25th Anniversary Dinner & Dance

The Allesley Hotel in Coventry was the setting for the celebration of 25 years for the Coventry & District RP Society. What a night Saturday June 19th turned out to be! Our 85 guests included Ian & Mary Oliver, Howard & Anne Burgess, David Pool, Peggy Mason who have all been associated with the branch over the years as Chairmen or members.
Guests also travelled from all over the country to be with us - some from as far away as Scotland, Liverpool and Essex. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed meeting you.
We were treated to a four course dinner with music to dance the night away by local rock band 'Road Hog' who kept people dancing on the floor until the wee hours, with some excellent rock & roll being displayed by some of our very own ageing rockers! Credit to you Alan & Bill - you both proved that there is still plenty of life left in the old dogs yet - HA HA!
Also Well Done Chris & Matt for adding your talent by playing your guitars and singing to the appreciative audience.
Our Chairperson, Julie Norman, thanked everyone for coming and also thanked those who had played their part in raising £120,000 for research over the last 25 years. Richard presented Julie with a basket of flowers for her dedication to the branch over the last 11 years as our longest serving Chairperson.
The raffle, at where 16 prizes were up for grabs [including a Weekend Break for two to Paris thanks to the generosity of Harry Shaw Travel], raised over £197!. Thanks to those of you who so kindly donated prizes on the night.
Julie, we wish to thank you for organising such a memorable event single-handed. You did us proud! Also, thanks must go to Paul Norman & Linda Arch for all their efforts on the day in decorating the banqueting suite and for just simply being there for all those jobs that needed doing to make an event like this so successful. Finally, a Big Thank You to Road Hog for being so much a part of our celebrations and to The Allesley Hotel for their professionalism and expertise on the day.
Both events to mark this very special occasion will remain with us forever. Many thanks to one and all.
