A GALA SPECTACULAR
raising fund for RP Fighting Blindness
On Friday 30th October 2009, 7.30pm a very special concert takes place at the newly refurbished Butterworth Hall, Warwick Arts Centre, Warwick University Coventry.
The British Police Symphony Orchestra, conductor Tom Hammond, outstanding soprano Denise Leigh and top-class pianist Simon Callaghan come together to bring you an evening of music you will never forget.
This special event is to raise funds for RP Fighting Blindness, striving to find a cure for retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), a blinding genetic disease of the eye.

Operatunity winner Denise opens with Handel's joyous aria from his Oratorio Samson
Ave Maria.
G Verdi. Soprano Denise Leigh.
A stunningly beautiful setting of the Ave Maria. Intercepted by Desdemona's out pouring and pleading with God.
Rusalka's Song to the Moon.
A Dvorak. Soprano Denise Leigh.
Rusalka, the water nymph, has fallen in love with a mortal man. She sings her love song to the moon, willing her thoughts to reach her beloved.
Glitter and be Gay.
(Candide) L Bernstien. Soprano Denise Leigh.
Bernstien's aria is a mad celebration of Cunegonde's depraved lifestyle. She was meant for greater things than this.
Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus.
R Vaughan Williams. Soloist (Harp) Susan Sherratt.
A poignant ending to the concert: a work so beautiful and evocative that the composer asked for it to be played at is own memorial service.
